Tesco’s customers now represent 5% of the mobile market
Tesco Mobile has announced its 250,000th customer – giving it a market share in Ireland of 5%.
The virtual operator – which uses the Three network to connect customers – says it has added over 50,000 customers in the past year alone.
This follows the opening of a number of dedicated phone shops within Tesco stores, as well as a renewed marketing push and some attractive price plans.
The Irish market is set to get more competitive in the next 12 months, however, despite Three’s recent acquisition of O2.
Both Carphone Warehouse and UPC are set to launch their own virtual mobile network in 2015, both of which will utilise the Three network.
