First Windows Phone 7 games revealed

Games for Windows Phone 7 have been revealed

Microsoft has unveiled details of the first games for the new Windows Phone 7 operating system at this week’s Gamescom 2010 conference in Germany.

The OS’s gaming credentials are based around Microsoft’s own Xbox Live infrastructure, with over 60 titles being made available for it in its early stages.

The most notable of these titles include Assassins Creed, Bejewelled LIVE, Castlevania, Frogger, Guitar Hero 5, Halo Waypoint, Splinter Cell Conviction, Star Wars: Conviction and Star Wars: Battle for Hoth.

Microsoft has been gearing up its Windows Phone 7 for some time now, with a tough battle against Apple’s iPhone and the Android OS ahead of it. Gaming is hoped to be one of Windows’ big selling points as it integrates with user achievements on PC and Xbox 360 amongst other things.

Details of the first Windows Phone 7 device to come to Ireland are still thin on the ground – though it is expected at some stage in October.
