Ericsson has completed a trial of 80mb/s mobile broadband in Dublin
Ericsson & ComReg have announced the successful conclusion of a high-speed mobile broadband trial in Ireland, with speeds of 80mb/s achieved.
The press release says this brings super-fast mobile broadband a step closer for customers, though there is no timeframe in which this is likely to become a consumer product.
Mobile broadband speeds in Ireland have been increasing in recent times, though they are notorious for not giving customers anything close to the advertised speed. Ericsson claims mobile broadband could eventually be used for radio and HD TV broadcasts; if it can be used reliably for the internet that would be nice too.
