Samsung's "pencil-thin" C9000 will go on sale in Ireland next month
Samsung has announced that its ultra-thin 3D LED TV – the C9000 – will be available to Irish customers from next month. The set, which is just 7.93mm thick, will be available in 40″, 46″ and 55″ sizes when it goes on sale in June 2010.
The impressive set will not come cheap, however. The price for the 40″ model is currently to be confirmed however the 46″ version will have an RRP of €5,399 and the 55″ model will cost €6,499.
As it does not need to be back-lit LED technology generally allows for much thinner TV sets than plasma and LCD. This not only makes them lighter and neater, it also makes them easy to mount on walls.
However this particular model is as thin as Samsung has gone so far and, according to the company, is cheaper than anything else available in Ireland at present.
