With a week to go until the iPad becomes officially available outside of the US, Apple has opened its app store to international users. Users in many European countries are reporting that they can now access the App Store from their device, however it is not clear if Irish iPad owners can also do so.
Until now iPad owners outside of the US could only get apps by downloading them to their mac/PC and transferring them to the device via sync. International users should now be able to connect to the App Store directly, meaning they will only be offered apps that work on the iPad – as opposed to those that are iPhone-only.
Most big European countries will see the iPad go on sale from the 28th May, with pre-orders being available since the 10th. Ireland, however, will have to wait until an un-named date in July.
