I've been using Macs since 1989 (in school) and have really only owned Macs during my adult life (though I've dabbled with Linux and SGI Irix systems) and I have to say the snobbery is a new, post-iPod phenomenon. To be sure, Apple users were a community of interest before but it is strangely shallow and noisy now. Likewise, the anti-Apple fanatics are getting more shrill and strident. It's boring. For the record, I'm typing this comment on a €279 netbook running Mac OS X. Yes, it’s strange. I’ve been using Macs since 1989 (in school) and have really only owned Macs during my adult life (though I’ve dabbled with Linux and SGI Irix systems) and I have to say the snobbery is a new, post-iPod phenomenon. I've met people who were bewildered at the fact that I bought a €300 netbook because THEY wouldn't buy anything less than a Macbook or what have you. Well, I'm not them and it suits the purpose I bought it for perfectly well - a portable web browser. I won't buy an iPad because it simply doesn't appeal to me, but I'm not going to angrily fire off posts bitching about it on the internet because some product has been released that doesn't meet my personal needs and wants.
