Apple’s tablet expected today

As always, Apple has sent out a vague event invite to the media.

As always, Apple has sent out a vague event invite to the media.

iPhone-maker Apple is expected to unveil its first tablet computer this evening after months of hype and rumour around the device. The company is holding an event in San Francisco where it will show off its ‘latest creation’ with Apple CEO Steve Jobs expected to take to the stage at 6pm Irish time.

As there has been no official confirmation of Apple’s new product exact details are few and far between, with countless rumours coming to light on a daily basis.

Most analysts are agreed that the tablet computer will be based around a 10″ touchscreen and will be similar in design to the iPhone. It is believed its operating system will also be similar to that of the iPhone and iPod Touch’s.

There are also rumours around the content deals Apple has struck to support the new product, with book companies and newspapers all said to be interested in offering content on the platform.

All of this is guesswork, however, until Jobs himself stands before the captive audience in a few hours’ time.

Teic.ie will be sure to keep you posted once that happens.
