Facebook and Twitter are now available to Xbox Live 'Gold' members.
Nearly 2 million Xbox Live members logged in to the console’s new Facebook application in its first week according to figures released by Microsoft Ireland today.
The users represent around 10% of Xbox Live’s 20 million members, a figure which includes ‘Silver’ account holders who do not have access to the Facebook feature.
Alongside the Facebook application Microsoft also launched a Twitter client on the console, although figures for its usage were not released.
Microsoft Ireland has also announced plans for a ‘Free Gold Weekend’ which takes place from Friday 27th to Sunday 29th November. The event allows all Live members to access the full service whether they have paid for it or not.
At present ‘Silver’ accounts are free but these members have limited access to the Xbox Live service. A ‘Gold’ account costs around €7 per month and allows users to access extra features including multiplayer gaming.
